Welcome to Prevention and Response Columbia County

 

Did you know...young people in Columbia County, WI are overdosing and dying from heroin at alarming rates? Unfortunately, it is true. Columbia County drug-related arrests also rose 72% from 426 to 733 arrests during 2011-12. 

Members from all sectors of Columbia County began meeting in February of 2015 to address the issue of opiate use in our county. Thus, Prevention and Response Columbia County (PARCC) was created. Read more about PARCC here.

 

It doesn't start with heroin...

In Columbia County, WI:

  • 7% of high school youth reported taking a prescription drug without a doctor's prescription;
  • 29% of high school youth indicate no risk of people harming themselves when they smoke marijuana once or twice a week;
  • 29% of high school youth have drank alcohol in the past 30 days; and
  • 14% of high school youth have used marijuana in the past 30 days.
